DEBATING AND PUBLIC SPEAKING REPORT

Public Speaking and Debating

develops students’ oral and

written communication skills,

research and teamwork skills.

Through Public Speaking and

Debating students engage in

the artistry of oratory, learn

to effectively present a point

of view and also develop in

confidence.

There are a number of

opportunities for students from years 7 to 10 to be

involved in Public Speaking and Debating, both within

the College and external to the College.

Congratulations to all the girls who represented our

school in various competitions.

PUBLIC SPEAKING

Catholic Schools Public Speaking Competition

(CSDA)

A knockout competition which takes place in the

evening ,over three weeks during Term 1.

Year 7- Sophie Rosenthal and Angela St Baker

Sutherland Shire Public Speaking Competition

(SSPC)

A knockout competition which takes place after

school during Term 2.

Junior Competitors

- Angelique Trimis, Sophie

Rosenthal, Kelly McRae,Harriet Hurst and Elizabeth

Bowles.

Senior Competitor

- Ashley Bannister

Elizabeth Bowles and Ashley Bannister made it

through to the finals held at Sutherland Shire council

chambers.

DEBATING

Competition

A knockout competition which takes place during

school time in Term2

SeniorTeams

Isabelle Williams, Ashley Bannister, Natasha Radgevic

and AlexVinson.

Caitlin Neckovski, Ruby Anthony, Sophie Carr, and

Georgia Skanavis.

The Regional Catholic Debating Competition

On Wednesdays after school, our girls joined with

the boys from De La Salle Caringbah to compete

in this Competition – the teams entered as OLMC/

DeLa.

A senior team from De La Salle Cronulla also

participated in the competition.

Year 7

- Nicola Wyer, Kelly McRae, Angela St Baker

(who often stepped up to Year 8) and Pia Millington-

Wallace.

Year 8

- Aryana Dimitroulas.

Year 9

- Ashley Bannister, Natasha Radojevic, Mia

Flokis, Sarah Flokis and Georgia Skanavis.

Year 10

- Chelsea Rich and Tia Naris.

Sincere thanks must go to two of our ex-students,

Kate Berger and Megan Muller for their commitment

in coaching our teams.
