YOUTH MINISTRY REPORT
Throughout 2015 many
students have engaged in a
number of Youth Ministry
events
including
the
Year 9 Southern Region
Evangelisation Day with
Steve Angrisano, the Year 10
Southern Region Retreat
with Samuel Clear and
gatherings held in the lead
up toWorld Youth Day 2016
in Poland.
Students from Year 10 also attended the Australian
CatholicYouth Festival in Adelaide.
One of the highlights for Our Lady of Mercy Catholic
College students this year was our Youth Ministry
Grant Project.This project was a songwriting project
that harnessed the gifts and talents of our choir and
musicians. Students named the song Blessed are the
Merciful (Matt 5:6), which is also the theme ofWorld
Youth Day 2016. Workshopping with Mrs Corby
the girls composed the verses and chorus and then
co-wrote the pre-chorus and bridge with producer
Christian Lo Russo. This song was performed at the
Archdiocesan Social Justice Day and will be used by
the Catholic Education Office in the lead up toWorld
Youth Day
