Accessible Beachside

Accommodation is Coming

People living with a spinal cord injury

will have access to 17 fully equipped

beachside apartments by the middle

of 2016, according to Royal Rehab.

Sargood on Colloroy is situated

on the beautiful coastline of

Sydney’s northern beaches, offering

uninterrupted beach frontage views,

access to the beach, a beach pool

and facilities designed for people living

with a spinal cord injury.

Due to be opened in mid 2016,

Sargood on Collaroy will be operated

by Royal Rehab and is said to offer

a fully accessible resort style setting,

the latest equipment, a specially

designed gym, a spa and meeting

room for up to 70 people. Programs

available weekly will include:

• Health and Wellness – Workshops

and activities to assist in overall

wellbeing.

• Learning and Growing – Learning

opportunities for self growth.

• Recreation and Fitness – Sport and

recreation opportunities as well as

an onsite gym.

The vision of Sargood on Collaroy is

that it will be a place to refresh, learn

and connect and stay with your family

whilst adjusting to home, work and

community life following spinal injury.

Sargood is a not for profit

partnership bringing together

government and private funding

with strong community support. The

beachside apartments are built on the

site of the former Royal Alexandria

Hospital for Children, which was borne

from a generous donation of land and

buildings by Frederick Sargood.

Sargood on Collaroy says it will be

for people who have experienced

a spinal cord injury and their family/

partner to come after hospital,

before moving home, for respite

care, to attend day programs or for

an accessible holiday.
