To celebrate 40 years of contemporary

Contemporary Indigenous dance and

in Denver and continued for six weeks

from Denver to New York where the

group taught, exchanged creative ideas

and trained alongside dancers from

across the USA.

SEOUL FRIENDSHIP FAIR

15 of NAISDA’s Developing Artists

and staff travelled to South Korea to

participate in the Seoul Friendship

Fair, which took place from 4 May to

10 May 2016.

The NSW Department of Premier and

Cabinet invited NAISDA to represent

New South Wales at the Fair, which is a

huge multicultural celebration attended

by 300 performance teams from sister

cities in over 14 different countries.

NAISDA’s Developing Artists had a blast

taking part in the opening of the Fair and

sharing the dances from the Datiwuy

Clan of North East Arnhem Land on a

world stage, using their downtime to

explore the city of Seoul its people,

culture and everything it has to offer.

“I have gained a better understanding

of the magnitude of the power of culture

and art,” said NAISDA Developing Artist

Shana O’Brien.

“It was really beautiful.

Even though we had

language barriers, we

were able to make

connections with people

from around the world

through culture and

dance”
