CENTRAL COAST

REGIONAL SNAPSHOT

2016

Journey to Work

Journey to Work (residents) data from the 2011 census indicates

that 30,339 or 23.2% of Central Coast NSW’s working residents

travel outside of the area to work.

This is in line with the Department of Transport estimates of 25

per cent of residents travel outside of the region for employment.

Approximately 20 per cent of the region’s workforce travels to

Sydney, and 5 per cent to the Hunter region (NSW Department of

Transport, Dec 2013). Whilst the overall percentage is down from

35 per cent in 2000 this is still a significant issue for the region.
