CENTRAL COAST
REGIONAL SNAPSHOT
2016
Statistical analysis of the Central Coast Tourism & Hospitality
Workforce age structure indicates that a larger percentage of 15
– 24 year olds were employed compared to NSW and Australia
(35% compared to 28% and 31%).
This provides a general indication that while many young
employees commence their careers in the tourism and hospitality
sector the industry on the Central Coast has failed to maintain
them which further indicates the need for additional developments
to improve this sector of the job market.
Statistical analysis also indicates that a larger percentage of the
Tourism & Hospitality workforce on the central coast have no or
certificate level qualifications compared to the NSW & Australian
workforce (83.2% compared to 71.3% and 73.2%).
These figures indicate that the Central Coast should continue
to encourage tourism and hospitality industry developments
which seek to address these issues by creating job and training
opportunities by improving the level of economic activity
throughout the region.
It is anticipated that additional high quality tourism and hospitality
developments that partner with learning institutions to create
additional job opportunities will be invaluable in creating a lively
region to encourage the regions youth to remain on the Central
Coast and to increased desirability of the region as a place to live.
