Goodbye Ted

Our Senior Chaplain, Ted Endacott, is currently on Long

Service Leave and retiring at the end of the year. A special

afternoon was organised by staff, which included a Teddy

Bear picnic/afternoon tea, farewell song, and some

reflections on his time at the College. The event was a

wonderful celebration of his 10 years serving the College.

40 Hour Famine

Famine Fighter Walls of Fame in both Middle and Senior

School were created by Chaplain Kim for this year’s 40 Hour

Famine campaign. Many students were involved, giving up

food, talking, the use of furniture and electronics. One senior

student, Bonin Sok, even opted to give up her sight for 40

hours and all together the Hillcrest team of 89 members

raised $11,072.49.

The top fundraisers this year were: Tom Arcaro $2,205 and

Ee Shane Lim $1,189.65 from Middle School and Zachery

Buchanan $633.50 and Bonin Sok $332.65 from Senior

School. Even Chaplain Kim managed to raise $522.

Junior School Chaplain

Chaplain Rowan went to the Year 3 camp and loved seeing

the students in a more relaxed environment and ‘spreading

their wings.’ Chaplain Rowan has been involved in the

Junior School clubs, on Fridays, running team games. He has

enjoyed having fun with the students and the opportunity

to teach them about how team games are different to

individual ones. ‘Bed time stories’ also continued with some

Fridays turning into massive Q&A times for Junior School.

Safe Talk

Eighteen Senior students had the opportunity to do

SafeTALK training to learn how not to miss, dismiss or avoid

signs that someone might be a risk of suicide. Students

were taught how to ask, listen and keep potential people

safe, through linking them with support.

The SafeTALK training was very useful.
