“
The SafeTALK training was very useful. It trainedme in what to
do in the situation of suicide and I feel ready to be able to cope
if this ever were to occur. I feel comfortable to help if any of my
friends were ever in a threatening situation. It was a safe and
friendly environment that was comfortable for learning and
to ask any questions. I enjoyed the session because I learnt a
lot in how to read a person who is struggling and would like
to participate in more things like this. Thank you for taking the
time to organise the training.

“The SafeTALK course with Drewwas a good way to learn more
about ways to prevent suicide, identify warning signs, how to
talk to someone about their feelings and how to get them long
term help. We were given different methods and ideas about
how to help a person with distressing and unhealthy thoughts.
If you have ever been in a situation where a friend or family
member has spoken to you about ending their life, I think that
this course is a good thing to learn, so that you are aware of
what is going on and how to help the person change their
thinking.”

Pastoral Care
Chaplain Daniel has been enjoying a focus on pastoral
care this term. With the weather effecting moods around
the College, Daniel has been kept busy with 1:1 chats with
students across Middle and Senior School. These informal
sessions allow students to express their thoughts and
feelings about anything that is on their mind, from issues
surrounding the divorce of their parents, to social issues at
school, to depressive and suicidal thoughts.
Daniel has also enjoyed working alongside some of the
agencies outside of the school that provide free mental
health services, with a number of referrals being made for
the students that need extra support.
Finally, Daniel has also enjoyed his time in talking to
students about God during the classroom devotions in the
morning and at Chapel. Sharing the good news of God’s
unconditional and unfailing love for them is the part of the
role that he looks forward to most of all.
